Community QSA

QSA’s are typically student led school-based groups that provide safe and supportive environments for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning youth and their straight allies. Research has found these types of support groups enhance protective factors for this vulnerable population and help with things such as suicidality, bullying and resilience.

However, these school based groups are not accessible to everyone, particularly youth who are experiencing homelessness and students who are in school settings where QSAs do not exist. The establishment of a CQSA has helped to fill this gap.

Alongside the youth group component, the project has engaged the community at large championed by the philosophy of inclusion and appreciation for sexual and gender minorities and their allies.

In partnership with Boys and Girls Club, The Mat and the Lethbridge Public Library we offer 2 community Queer Straight Alliance groups.

Every 3rd Thursday of the Month QSA

LGBTQ+ youth, youth allies, and mentors for youth 14 to 18 meet to discuss issues, share stories, access support, learn about community resources, and meet new people. Our aim is to create a safe space for our youth to be themselves, feel included and empowered, and to facilitate activism in the community. Check out our Events page for the next meeting.
Location: Boys and Girls Club of Lethbridge, 1405 - 8th Ave. North.
Time: 7 - 9:30pm

Every Last Tuesday of the Month QSA

The Queer Straight Alliance is for youth ages 16 to 21 a safe space to meet, support each other, talk about issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity and expression, and work to end homophobia and transphobia. We'll also share community resources, watch movies, and have fun! Check out our Events page for the next meeting.
